Video: How Do I Close an App in Windows 8?
Video Transcript
Hi, I'm Dave Johnson, editor of eHow's Tech channel, and let's learn how to close an app in Windows 8. In older versions of Windows, closing an app was as easy as clicking the close box in the corner of the screen but in Windows 8, modern apps don't have close boxes. They occupy the whole screen. So let's see how to close one. Here's an example of a modern app in Windows 8. It is the weather app and it's a nice comfortable 66 degrees in Santa Monica right now but I could just switch to a different app if I wanted to but if I want to actually close it completely, all I have to do is take the mouse, move the pointer up to the top of the screen and it turns into a little hand. I click and drag it all the way down to the screen and the app is now closed and I know that it's closed, I can prove that but if I go to the upper left corner and drag the mouse down, I get a list of all the open apps and weather is now crowded from that list. I'd also like to point out that it's possible to also close an app if you are using touch. All you do is drag the app all the way down with your finger and it's closed.
