How to Plant Peppermint
- 1). Decide where to plant the peppermint. Peppermint likes a place that is partly sunny to partly shady. Growing peppermint facing a north wall usually is a good place.
- 2). Dig up the ground in the spring where the peppermint will grow. Place edging of metal or plastic to contain the peppermint. Smooth the soil with a rake and allow the soil to settle for three to six days.
- 3). Scatter the seeds over the surface of the soil. Be careful not to puddle them and space them 6 inches apart.
- 4). Cover the seeds with soil to a depth of 1/4 inch.
- 5). Water the soil with a gentle spray or mister. Keep the soil moist, but not soggy.
- 6). Thin the peppermint plants when they reach 2 inches in height. Leave about 12 inches of space between each plant.
- 7). Allow the peppermint to grow until it reaches a height of 12 inches before using.
