- 1). Mix 1 cup salt with 1/2 cup warm water and stir to dissolve the salt. Pour the salt water into a spray bottle. Spray the area where you don't want the frogs to get in with the salt water. The salt in the water burns the frog's feet just enough to make it uncomfortable so it leaves the area; it not does significantly damage the frog, as when you put salt on a slug. Another option is to use a granular frog repellent. The repellent emits an odor that frogs find distasteful and avoid. Apply a line of the repellent along areas where you suspect frogs are moving through and where you don't want them to go, such as your pond or swimming pool, garden, garage and house.
- 2). Remove any dog food bowls or water bowls from your yard. Only put them outside when your dog is out, as frogs eat dog food and sit and relax in a fresh water bowl.
- 3). Remove anything that clutters your yard and provides a cool damp place for frogs to live. Remove piles of damp wood from your property. Rake up any piles of leaves in your yard and discard them. Both leaves and damp wood are wet, dark places that where frogs live. Mow down any tall grass in your yard as frogs hide in it. Fill in any holes in which frogs can hide.
- 4). Inspect your pond for frog eggs or spawn. Scoop up water in a bucket and pick up the spawn with a net and put it in the bucket. Move the spawn to a natural pond away from your property. Frogs return to the ponds where they hatch, so if they hatch and grow up in another pond, they won't come back to your pond to procreate.
- 5). Stretch thin wire bird net over fish or decorative ponds. This prevents frogs from getting into your pond. If you have a lot of marginal plants in your pond, remove them and only leave the plants that your fish need to survive. Frogs breed in shallow water plants and lay their eggs near them.
- 6). Keep your pool covered when it is not in use. Invest in a humane pond and pool skimmer that allows any frogs or other animals that accidentally get into your pool to climb out and leave.
- 7). Empty any sources of standing water where mosquitoes can breed. Eliminate sources of food to discourage the frogs from staying.
- 8). Punch holes in the lid of a large mason jar with a nail and a hammer. Use a large glass jar with a lid and a net to catch frogs. Relocate them to another area where they won't be a nuisance to people, such as a nature reserve.
