How to Connect My Netgear Wireless Router to My Cable Modem
- 1). Power off the computer that is connected to your cable modem. Power off and unplug your cable modem.
- 2). Disconnect the network cable running from your cable modem to the computer. You only need to disconnect the end running to your computer. You will need to leave this cable connected to your modem.
- 3). Connect the free end of the network cable to the Internet port on your router. Each port on the router will be clearly labeled, and there is only one Internet port.
- 4). Plug the blue network cable supplied with your router into the LAN port of your router. Connect the other end of the cable to the Ethernet port on your computer.
- 5). Plug in the cable modem. Wait for a full two minutes and then plug in your router. Wait for one full minute and then power on your computer.
