How to Dig a Snake Hole

    • 1). Wet the ground where you'd like to dig a snake hole to make digging easier.

    • 2). Use the digging bar to loosen the dirt in the area where you'd like to dig a snake hole. Use the end of the digging bar that looks like a dull blade. Pry out any rocks that are in the way. Work about 3 to 4 inches at a time.

    • 3). Use the post hole digger to remove loose dirt. Push the two handles together to open the blades of the post hole digger. Press the blades into the loosened dirt. Pull the handles apart to close the blades around the loose dirt. Lift the blades from the earth and dump the dirt in an appropriate location.

    • 4). Repeat Steps 2 and 3 until you've reached your desired depth. You can also continue wetting the dirt the deeper you get to make digging easier.
