How to Refinish Antique Wrought Iron Furniture
- 1). Carry the furniture out into the yard near a garden hose. Wash the furniture with a degreaser, using coarse steel wool. Rinse the antique wrought iron, using the garden hose. Let the furniture dry under the sun for approximately an hour. Place the antique furniture on a canvas drop cloth.
- 2). Apply etching primer to the antique wrought iron, using a polyester brush. For best results, use an etching primer that has rust-inhibitive qualities. Brush slowly, smoothing out runs and sags as you apply. Let the furniture dry under the sun for at least two hours.
- 3). Finish the antique wrought iron as you primed it. Use a strong enamel on furniture, as it is subject to frequent duress. Let the furniture dry under the sun for at least two hours.
