- 1). Click the "Start" button at the bottom of your screen. In the Search box that appears along with the list of programs on your computer, type "secpol.msc." The search will find the Local Security Policy on your computer. It will be labeled "secpol."
- 2). Click on "secpol."
- 3). Double-click on "Account Policies" in the window that opens. Then choose "Password Policy." Choosing this option will display a list of password-policy settings, including an option to tailor your password to meet complexity requirements and the ability to specify a minimum length for passwords. Choose which policy settings you prefer, whether you are tweaking your system for security or for ease of use.
