    Setting Up

    • The GN 6120 is primarily designed for hooking up to a landline desk phone, although it can also be used with a mobile phone. The landline phone's handset is plugged into the socket with the handset icon on the GN 6120's base. One end of the supplied telephone cord plugs into the port where the phone handset once occupied, and the other end goes into the base's socket with the phone icon. The base's adapter is then plugged in to the power port, with the other end going into an electrical outlet.

    Power and Charging

    • The base of the GN 6210 has a cradle that you can place the headset on for charging. To the left of the cradle are four battery indicators, each of which illuminates with a green light with a 25 percent charge. It should take at least two hours to fully charge the headset. When you do not have the base or are traveling, you can rely on the travel charger instead. Turning the headset on or off requires pressing the Headset multifunction button -- marked with a handset icon -- on top of it for about 3 to 4 seconds.

    Calling

    • When turned on, the GN 6210 should emit a brief audible tone. Also, the phone handset should produce a dial tone. A seven-lettered adjustment switch -- A to G -- is placed above the phone and power ports at the bottom of the base for achieving a clear or audible dial tone. When the GN 6210 is pressed on, the base's on-line indicator will flash. Then you can remove the handset from its cradle on the phone and dial or answer phone calls. Ending a call requires that you place the handset back on the cradle and the headset on the base or turn it off.

    Performance

    • To the top left of the dial tone adjustment switch is a blue microphone volume knob for adjusting the volume of the GN 6210 headset microphone. To the right is a volume match dial, and there is an up/down volume button built into the headset. Users are advised to avoid staying too close to the landline (or mobile) phone so that there are no obstructions between the devices.
