How to Install a Waterco Trimline Cartridge Filter
- 1). Turn off the pump and lock it out so it cannot be turned on while you are removing and installing the filter if your system is equipped with a pump. If you have a bypass valve rather than a pump, turn the inlet and outlet valves clockwise to shut them off. Open the bypass valve, turning it counterclockwise.
- 2). Rotate the air valve on top of the filter housing up counterclockwise with your fingers. This will release the air in the housing and the system. Open the drain valve that is on the bottom of the filter housing on the outlet side of the housing. Allow the water to completely drain from the housing and close the drain valve.
- 3). Grasp the side of the lock ring on the lid and turn it counterclockwise to remove the lid from the filter housing. Pull out the old filter, and slide a new Waterco Trimline cartridge filter into the housing. The top of the filter should be level with the top of the housing.
- 4). Inspect the O-ring on the inside of the lid for cracks. If the O-ring has cracks, replace it with a new one. Apply a thin film of petroleum jelly on the O-ring with your finger.
- 5). Thread the lid back onto the top of the housing until it is hand tight. Check the pipe joints to the filter housing to ensure they are tight. Attempt to turn them clockwise with your hand.
- 6). Unlock the pump and turn it to the "On" position, if using a pump. If you use a bypass valve, close the bypass valve and open the inlet valve slowly. Turn the air valve clockwise to close it once the water begins to flow from the air valve. Open the outlet valve.
