    • 1). Open Photoshop. Select "File" and click "Open." In the dialog, browse to and open the clothing image you want to work with.

    • 2). Select the "Pen" tool from the toolbar on the left. In the options at the top, set it to "Shape Layer." Use the tool to draw the shape of the hem you want. Don't worry about the fill color; it's temporary.

    • 3). Go to the bottom of the "Layers" panel and click on the "FX" button. From the options, click on the "Bevel and Emboss" effect. In the dialog, set the effect to "Pillow Emboss." Adjust the settings until you like the previewed effect and click "OK."

    • 4). Go to the "Paths" and right-click on the listed path. Choose "Make Selection."

    • 5). Click on the "New Layer" button and drag it under the top layer. Right-click on the top layer and choose "Merge Down." Then click "Delete."

    • 6). Use the "Eraser" tool to remove any bits of shadow you don't want and then save your work.
