How to Paint Camo Using the Net Technique
- 1). Paint the entire surface dark brown. Ensure all of your paints are marked matte or flat. This means they do not contain any gloss and will not be reflective. Some manufacturers make a non-reflective paint specifically for painting camouflage. Krylon, Duplicolor and RustOleum all make paint with low luminosity.
- 2). Lay your net across your object. It does not need to be flat or straight. Any type of net will do, but beware that you will have very different patterns if you use a fishing net versus a basketball net. The splotches on your camouflage will be the size of the holes in your net.
- 3). Spray the surface with dark green spray paint, spraying through the net. Lift the net and reposition it. Spray again. Repeat until most of the surface is covered.
- 4). Spray the brown paint through the net onto the surface. Repeat several times, or until you are happy with the amount of green showing on the camouflage pattern.
- 5). Reposition the net again, and pick up the green paint. Paint through the net with this color. Repeat until the camouflage pattern is satisfactory to you.
