How to Use Sugar & Vinegar to Preserve Cut Flowers
- 1). Prepare your vase. Make sure that you have a vase that's big enough to hold the amount of flowers you plan to use. A large vase will ensure that your flowers are not crammed tightly together. After selecting your ideal vase, fill it three-fourths of the way full of distilled water.
- 2). Add your solution. Combine two tablespoons of vinegar and a teaspoon of sugar in the vase. Stir until the ingredients combine and the sugar somewhat dissolves.
- 3). Prepare your flowers. Cut the stems of your flowers at an angle with a pair of shears or sharp scissors. This will allow the flowers to absorb the sugar and vinegar mixture. Make sure that you do not add too many flowers to your vase. Ensure even distribution.
- 4). Position your flowers. Place your flowers in a space where they can obtain as much natural sunlight as possible.
