How to Use Butane to Light a Charcoal Grill
- 1). Remove the cooking grate on your grill to add charcoal. Two lbs. of charcoal, which is roughly 30 briquettes, will provide more than an hour of cooking time.
- 2). Douse the perimeter of the charcoal heap with liquid butane. Do not soak the briquettes.
- 3). Touch the flame of a lighter to the edge of the charcoal pile immediately. Butane begins to evaporate the moment it makes air contact.
- 4). Replace the cooking grate on the gill once the fire begins to burn down. When the charcoal glows orange, you are ready to grill.
