How to Use a Lexmark X1240 All in One Printer
- 1). Turn on your computer and connect the power cord to your Lexmark x1240 all-in-one printer. You'll also need to connect the printer to your computer via a USB card. After doing this, verify that the device is on by checking the power light. This can be easily done by making sure that the light is actively lit. If by chance the all in one printer does not seem to power on quickly, then consider holding down the power button for a few seconds until you see some activity.
- 2). Remove the tape from the top of the Lexmark x1240 all-in-one printer and lift the paper support to an upward position. It was originally taped down to make it fit inside of the box and also to keep it from snapping off during transport. You'll also need to pull the paper tray that is located on the bottom of the all in one printer towards you. When your documents finish printing, this area will be used to hold them in place and stop them from pouring onto the floor.
- 3). Load the appropriate amount of paper into the paper support area. Try not to stuff too much into this location or your Lexmark x1240 all-in-one printer will start to jam. When loading the paper into the device, you'll notice that there is an adjustable paper guide. It will help to guide your paper in the right direction when printing. It can be re-sized to fit standard full sheets of paper or envelopes. Just simply slide the guide back and forth to accommodate your needs.
- 4). Lift the scanner portion of your Lexmark x1240 all-in-one printer in order to insert the ink cartridges. Remove the tape on each ink cartridge before placing them inside of the all in one printer. If you forget to do so, then your documents will not print properly and the cartridges may become jammed. There are color coded cartridge containers that will help you place the right cartridge into the correct area. When placing them in make sure they are securely inserted and that you hear a snapping noise. Doing this will confirm that the cartridges have been correctly inserted.
- 5). Close the scanner portion of the Lexmark x1240 when done and cancel the “Add New Hardware” pop-up that appears. Since you have the included CD with all of the appropriate drivers, your installation process will be much quicker and easier. You'll be guided through the process of installing these new printer drivers on your computer system. In order to complete the setup process, just follow the listed instructions on the computer screen. After this has been done, then you can start successfully using your Lexmark x1240 all-in-one printer.
