How to Replace a Scotts Rider Mower Belt
- 1). Place the lift lever into its lowest position. This lowers the cutting deck and provides the maximum amount of room between the top of the deck and the bottom of the Scotts rider mower.
- 2). Make a diagram of the belt routing around the deck pulleys so you can install the belt correctly later.
- 3). Locate the idler pulley on the left side of the mower deck of the Scotts rider mower. The idler pulley has a nut on the top of it. Place a 15mm wrench over the nut and rotate the pulley to loosen tension on the belt.
- 4). Remove the belt off the drive pulley.
- 5). Place the new belt onto the pulleys. Use the diagram you drew to ensure you route the belt correctly.
- 6). Pull on the wrench to force the idler pulley towards the front of the Scotts mower, stretch the belt and place it on the pulley located on the bottom of the engine.
- 7). Release the idler pulley and remove the wrench.
