- 1). Click "Start" and click "All Programs" to open the list of installed programs on your computer.
- 2). Click "Accessories" and right-click "Command Prompt."
- 3). Click "Run as Administrator" in the drop-down menu that appears. If the User Account Control prompt appears, enter the administrator password for the computer. A command prompt window will appear.
- 4). Type "sfc /scannow" in the window without the quotation marks. Note the space after "sfc." The process will begin to analyze the system files and repair any files that have been damaged.
- 5). Insert your Windows disc if the program requests it.
