How to Dispose of Toilets in Georgia

    • 1). Call your town's department of public works and ask whether there is a recycling or curbside disposal option for toilets in your community. At present, no statewide programs exist in Georgia for toilet recycling. Ask how you should prepare the toilet for recycling or disposal since some places require you to remove the lid, then follow the recommended procedures for your community.

    • 2). Post your toilet on the "Recycle Georgia's Materials Exchange" website to sell or trade it, keeping the toilet out of landfills (see Resources). Create a free account with your email address then post your location and the type of toilet offered. Arrange to sell or give the toilet to interested parties.

    • 3). Contact green contractors in Georgia using the "Low Impact Living" directory (see Resources). Let contractors know you have a toilet; they may be able to reuse it in a construction project. Sell or give the toilet to an interested Georgia contractor.
