    • 1). Click the Windows server "Start" button, and select "Administrative Tools." Click "DNS Manager" to open the configuration console.

    • 2). Click the "Actions" menu item, and then click "Configure a DNS Server." This starts a wizard that helps guide you through DNS configuration for your network. Click "Next" in the first welcome window.

    • 3). Click "Create a forward lookup zone," and click "Next." On the next screen, leave the default "Yes, create a forward lookup zone now," and click "Next." Select "Primary Zone," and click "Next."

    • 4). Choose "IPv4 Reverse Lookup Zone." Click "Next." Type your network lookup zone IP. For most small network setups, the IP is 192.168.1. Only the first three IP nodes are entered. Click "Next."

    • 5). Type a name for your DNS file, which is stored on the server hard drive. Click "Next." Click the "Finish" button on the final screen to complete the setup.
