Power Cycling on Laptops
- Power Cycle is a fancy way of saying turn the device on and off. If your laptop freezes or you are unable to run a certain program one possible solution might be to Power Cycle the device.
- Your laptop has Random Access Memory or RAM. Sometimes during a computers operation some of that RAM may corrupt. When you Power Cycle the device it wipes the certain portions of the RAM clean allowing your computer to function appropriately.
- There are two ways you can Power Cycle your laptop. The first is by shutting it down the way you normally would either using the "Start" menu on Windows or by pressing the "On/Off" button. The second is by unplugging it all together.
