How to Plant Bean Bushes
- 1). Dig a shallow trench, 1 1/2 inches deep and 1/2 inch wide, in the top layer of soil of your vegetable garden with a hand trowel.
- 2). Place each bean bush seed 2 to 3 inches apart in the trench.
- 3). Cover the bean bush seeds with 1 1/2 inches of soil, tamping it down firmly.
- 4). Water the bean bush seeds until they are soaked. Bean bush seeds germinate in 8 to 16 days.
- 5). Mulch around the beans with compost after they have germinated and are growing well. Compost retains soil moisture and feeds the bean bushes. Beans are sturdy plants, growing up to 18 inches tall. They do not need to be staked.
