- Made from nontoxic polymer, this product absorbs and releases water, providing moisture for indoor houseplants. You can also use Crystal Soil as a decorative centerpiece or in a vase to provide a colorful water source for fresh floral bouquets. Layer different colors of Crystal Soil in clear containers to produce unique designs.
- Soak one package of Crystal Soil in 1 pint of water, preferably distilled, for at least six hours. Crystal Soil beads must be completely covered with water during this process. You can also mix plant food into the water before adding Crystal Soil. After draining the Crystal Soil beads, you can arrange them in a vase or container, or plant a houseplant in a pot containing the beads after trimming off any dead foliage.
- If Crystal Soil beads become dull or cloudy, you can put them in a strainer and rinse them with water before placing the beads back into a container or pot. Crystal Soil beads that shrink over time need to soak in water for at least two hours to swell back to normal size. Crystal Soil has a lifespan of approximately one year. Dispose of biodegradable Crystal Soil by placing it in an outside garden or lawn area. When fully degraded, this product consists of water, nitrogen and carbon dioxide. You should not dispose of Crystal Soil by putting it down a drain or garbage disposal.
- Putting a vase or pot that contains Crystal Soil in direct sunlight can cause the color of Crystal Soil beads to fade. Although this product is nontoxic, it is not for human or animal consumption, so keep it out of the reach of young children and pets. If you're using different colors of Crystal Soil, you should soak each packet in a separate container. Plants that grow well in drought conditions, such as cactus, may not thrive if planted in Crystal Soil.
