How to Draw Tropical Rain-Forest Plants
- 1). Draw a long, thick stem (with two parallel lines, one on each side) curving upward from the ground.
- 2). Next, draw an upside-down heart shape starting midway up the stem and ending above the end of the stem. You may wish to turn the paper upside down to do this. Repeat steps 1 and 2 several times. The stems should all originate out of the same spot. You have just drawn an Elephant Ear plant.
- 3). Draw another stem curving out of the ground, beside the Elephant Ear plant.
- 4). Draw a line coming out the bottom of the left side of the stem, and then turn the line around and bring it back in. You have just drawn the narrow leaf of a rain-forest fern. Repeat the shape of this leaf over and over again, each one in line beside the last, down the left side of the stem, and then up the right side of the stem, until the stem is covered with leaves. Repeat steps 3 and 4 several times. All stems should originate out of the same place.
- 5). Draw a long graceful stem curving up out of the ground, beside the fern. This is the beginning of a rain-forest orchid. On top of that stem, draw a heart-shaped petal, and then draw four long, narrow petals coming out of the top of the orchid, behind the heart shaped petal in the center. Finally, draw a long, narrow leaf coming out of the ground at the base of the orchid.
