Difference Between Pro Duo Media & Mark 2
- The Memory Stick Pro Duo Mark 2 is the older of the two models, so this model is only available with memory capacity up to 8 GB. The Memory Stick Pro Duo Media offers you capacity up to 16 GB. The smallest memory card on both of these models is the 2GB. The Duo Media 16GB memory card can hold up to 4,500 8MB images and up to five hours of HD recording. The major difference between these models is how much memory that they store. Always look at actual memory versus stated memory. For example, a 2GB card actually only has about 1.85 GB of usable capacity.
- Both of these models are for storing all types of media, including video and digital photos. The write speed on all of these models is up to 32 MBps, and the transfer speed is 160 MBps, which means that these cards transfer and write data very quickly and efficiently. They use up to a maximum of 1.5 milliamps of power when in standby mode, which makes them very energy-efficient.
- The specifications on all of these models are also the same. The dimensions are 1 2/9 inches long by 11/14 inches wide by 1/16 inches deep, and they weigh 2 grams. The average operating current in parallel transfer mode is 100 milliamps, and the average operating current in serial transfer mode is 65 milliamps. You receive a one-year warranty on parts and labor on all of these products.
- The Memory Stick Pro-HG Duo has replaced both of these models, and they offer more memory, up to 32 GB. So, the older models are not as readily available. For example, Sony no longer offers either the 8GB Pro Duo Mark 2 or the 16GB Pro Duo Media Memory Sticks from their online store. You can, however, still purchase these products from third-party vendors. The Pro Duo Mark 2 products are slightly more expensive than the Duo Media products. For example, the 16GB Pro Duo Media only costs about $60, while the 8GB Pro Duo Mark 2 costs between $100 and $120.
