How to Grow Lucky Bamboo in North Carolina

1). Keep your lucky bamboo in a vase 2 inches deeper than the bamboo roots, submerged in water at all times. Use pebbles (or marbles) to keep your lucky bamboo standing up straight.
2). Place your lucky bamboo plant in a location that does not receive direct sunlight. Windowsills and desks near windows are too bright, and will result in lucky bamboo turning yellow and ultimately dying.
3). Water your lucky bamboo weekly using only bottled or filtered water. Tap water contains chemicals such as chlorine and fluoride that are not healthy for lucky bamboo plants.

Before adding fresh water to your bamboo, empty the vase of all the old water.
4). Fertilize your lucky bamboo if it starts to turn yellow. The best fertilizer for lucky bamboo is an organic fertilizer.
