Rosemary is an herb that comes in many varieties, one of which is the weeping rosemary. However, this weeping rosemary actually refers to a few different species of rosemary. Rosemary has black oil that affects the rosemary's flavor, smell and health benefits. The plants are only watered two or three times during the summer. Gardeners usually know when the rosemary must be watered because the plants turn yellowish-green, though the weeping rosemary often looks yellowish.

    Golden Rain Rosemary

    • The golden rain rosemary is one weeping variety. A weeping plant has foliage that hangs down loosely, with their branches drooping, according to Mortonarb. Weeping plants are often added to a garden as an accent piece, since the style of the foliage is distinct from that of the other plants. This rosemary produces yellow foliage. It starts off yellowish-green in the spring and turns darker green as the summer wears on, according to Mountain Valley Growers. Many gardeners have a hard time telling when the weeping rosemary needs to be watered because it usually looks thirsty due to its color.

    Prostrate Rosemary

    • Another rosemary plant that weeps is the prostate rosemary. This rosemary usually likes to climb up walls, according to Honey Suckle Cottage. The leaves are dark, glossy and fragrant. They are very often used for culinary purposes. This rosemary plant is an evergreen that spreads lowly along the ground and produces flowers that are a much paler blue than the other rosemary plants, according to Magnolia Garden Nursery. This type of rosemary plant is so dense that it can act as a curtain as it hangs over a wall or fence.

    Context

    • Rosemary are very rugged plants that can survive even when they do not receive adequate water. If the rosemary is allowed to grow to become a hedge, it can be pruned, but pruning is not necessary, according to Mountain Valley Growers. These plants tend to want to grow horizontally, but they will grow upright if they are pruned. The rosemary produces dark blue flowers and prefers its day to be hot and dry. These plants like a lot of nutrients, so the soil should be very organic. They also like their soil to be very well drained so that the water does not rest and become stagnant.
