How to Sweeten a Pear Tree
- 1). Water the pear tree with sugar water. Use two tablespoons of sugar for each cup of warm water. Water you fruit trees with the sugar-water mix once a day.
- 2). Add a sprinkling of Epsom salt to the base and roots of the tree to sweeten the pears, according to a southern folk remedy from the late 1800s.
- 3). Water the pear tree with molasses mixed with water. Add 1 cup of molasses to 1 gallon of hot water. Mix until the molasses is completely dissolved into the water. Let the water cool to room temperature and then spread around the base of the tree. Give the pear tree the molasses concoction once a week.
