Continuing to thrive during nationwide economic hardship has given Gary Kolander, owner of the Bay Area Gun Vault in Mountain View, CA the ability understand the role of small businesses in the United States economy as he and his small business are preparing to start a fourth year in business.
Small businesses represent over 99% of all employer firms and contribute 44% of the total United States private payroll. Statistically, less than 40% of small businesses are profitable over their lifetime. These number suggest just how difficult long-term success can be, and have taught Gary the importance of a happy customer base.
Owner, Gary Kolander says that he has been passionate about guns, gun culture and shooting sports for his entire life and has long been an avid gun historian and collector. In the beginning, Gary's personal collection of guns made up the initial inventory. Since then, the collection has grown to almost 400 guns, including an impressive collection of high-end collectibles.
He opened his doors with a mission to create a gun shop that would provide gun enthusiasts with a place where they could share their passion for guns with other enthusiasts, as well as interact with a friendly and knowledgeable staff of professionals.
"I wanted to create the type of gun shop that I myself would like to be a customer in" says Gary. "€¦a place with a great inventory where customers are treated with respect and aren't ignored."
Building his business around this simple mission has rewarded Gary with three years of success. Much of the success is attributed to the loyalty and enthusiasm of their customers. Throughout its time in business, Gary has encouraged shooters of all levels of interest and skill to share their experiences with him.
"I'm always excited to hear what my customers are saying. I really enjoy getting positive feedback from them." says Gary.
Being the first gun store in the Mountain View area in ten years has allowed Gary to give gun collectors, competitive shooters, hunters, and all other types of gun enthusiasts a place to share their interest in gun culture collectively.
As a way to say thank you to its loyal customers, the Bay Area Gun Vault will be celebrating its anniversary with its customers on Friday, September 30th and Saturday, October 1st with an outdoor barbecue. Attendees are invited to come discuss their love of guns together and enter to win free giveaways. More information on the celebration event is available at http://www.bayareagunvault.com.
