How to Compress a DVD Movie onto a Hard Drive
- 1). Install the DVD downloading software (see Resources for links to two examples). Follow the instructions shown on the installer to set up the program.
- 2). Insert the DVD you want to compress into the DVD-ROM of your computer. Make sure that the DVD you use isn't scratched.
- 3). Open the DVD downloading software. The software should automatically recognize the DVD in your drive.
- 4). Prepare the program to burn your DVD. You will need to specify information such as the type of video file you want, the name of the DVD and where to put the program. As each program is different, refer to your software's documentation for specific instructions on how to do this.
- 5). Wait for the DVD to finish ripping. At the end, the movie will be on your hard drive.
