How to Use Tabs on My HP Laptop
- 1). Start Internet Explorer on your HP laptop and wait for the homepage to load.
- 2). Open a new tab by holding down "CTRL" on your keyboard and pressing the "T" key. Alternatively, press the "New Tab" icon on Internet Explorer's tab bar, above the Web page. The icon is a sheet of paper with an orange star in the top right corner. You can open links in a new tab by holding "CTRL" when you click.
- 3). Switch between tabs by clicking the title of the tab you want to see from the tab bar. Alternatively, press the "Quick Tab" icon to the left of the tab bar to see thumbnails of all your active websites. Click a thumbnail to the page. The Quick Tab icon is four small squares. Another way of switching between tabs is using the "CTRL" + "TAB" keyboard shortcut.
- 4). Close a tab by clicking its "X" symbol on the tab bar. If you click Internet Explorer's close button with multiple tabs open you will be asked whether you want to close a tab or the entire browser.
- 5). Save a group of tabs by clicking the "Favorites" button in Internet Explorer 8, next click the arrow next to the "Add to Favorites" button and select "Add Current Tabs to Favorites." In Internet Explorer 7, click the "Add to Favorites" icon (a green "+" symbol in front of a yellow star) and select "Add Tab Group to Favorites." Give the group a name and click "Add."
