How Can I Use My PC Modem As a Telephone?
- 1). Plug the computer speakers into the "Speaker Out" port on the back of your computer. This is typically a green port located on the sound card.
- 2). Plug the microphone into the "Mic" port on the back of your computer. This port is typically colored pink for easy identification.
- 3). Plug a phone line cable with an active dial tone into the "Line" port on your modem.
- 4). Click the "Start" menu button, type "dialer" into the "Search" field, then press the "Enter" key. In Windows XP, click the "Start" button, then click "Run." Type "dialer" into the text field and press "Enter."
- 5). Click the "Phone" menu and select the "Dial" option to place a phone call. Type in the phone number for the party with which you wish to speak, then select "Phone Call." Click the "Dial" button to place the phone call.
- 6). Adjust the microphone and speaker volumes to a comfortable level. Click the "End Call" or "Disconnect" button to end the phone call.
- 7). Click the "Answer Call" button to answer an incoming phone call with the Phone Dialer program. Click "Reject Call" to disconnect the incoming call.
