How to Draw an Axe Shaped Guitar

    • 1). First, do your research. Look at existing manufacturers that have used the axe design and decide what you like or don't like about them. Gene Simmons models produced by Cort or Kramer may not have the headstock you prefer, for instance.

    • 2). Use a pencil to sketch a guitar neck; draw two parallel lines, then add a headstock of your preference. As an example, you can draw a standard rectangle for the headstock or add a crazy design, such as a star.

    • 3). Sketch the axe body of the guitar by first drawing a slightly curvy line to the right of the guitar neck. It should start right where the neck ends, curve outward, then back in again.

    • 4). Draw a rectangular block right off the end of the guitar neck. Connect the curved line inward so that it joins the main part of the guitar body.

    • 5). Complete the outline and begin to work on the interior details. Keep the eraser handy for any mistakes; draw the guitar pickups, the bridge, several switches and the frets on the fretboard. Make sure to add machine heads at the top of the headstock so that the strings have something to connect to.

    • 6). Trace the outline of the body with a felt pen once you are satisfied with the rough sketch. Use this pen to trace over all of the pencil marks, and add shading where desired. For the final touch, add six guitar strings going from the headstock down to the bridge. The axe guitar is now complete.
