How to Use a Stihl Tiller
- 1). Press the throttle trigger lockout and the throttle trigger on the handle; hold them in.
- 2). Slide the slide control into the "Start" position.
- 3). Release the throttle trigger, slide the control and throttle trigger lockout, then open the choke.
- 4). Press the fuel pump bulb at least five times.
- 5). Lay the machine on the ground with the engine on the top side. Check the blades of the tiller to ensure that they are not in contact with the ground or any other object.
- 6). Press firmly down on the loop handle (the handle above the engine), and pull the starter grip to start the engine. Allow the engine to run for a few minutes to warm up, then close the throttle and allow it to run for a few minutes at idle speed.
- 7). Run the tiller over the area that you're tilling. Hold both handles firmly to control the tiller.
- 8). Remove the grass that was torn up by the tiller with a rake, and make another pass over the soil with the tiller.
- 9). Move the slide control to the "Stop" position to shut off the engine.
