    Removing the Case

    • 1). Make sure that the system is unplugged.

    • 2). Find the computer's padlock device on the back of its case. It is a dual padlock system. Slide the outer padlock to your left to unlock the cover.

    • 3). Look at the front of the system and press the cover button in the bottom left of the front panel.

    • 4). Press the button in firmly and pull the cover upward, moving it off of the computer.

    Replacing/Installing the Modem

    • 1). Ground yourself to discharge any static you might be carrying by touching the chassis. Remove the old modem, if there is one, but unscrewing its anchor screw and pulling it straight up from its slot.

    • 2). Place the modem into the previous modem's slot. If you are not replacing an existing modem, find an open PCI slot. You might have to remove the metal plate from the chassis that corresponds to the open slot so you can access your modem's jacks.

    • 3). Use the anchor screw to install the card into the corresponding hole to hold the card in place.

    • 4). Replace the case cover and plug in all your cables.

    • 5). Turn on the machine and wait for "Add New Hardware" Wizard to show up. Use the software disc to install and reboot if necessary.
