How to Remove Peeling Exterior Paint
- 1). Use a flexible putty knife to pop off loose edges and any bubbling paint.
- 2). Scrape the area thoroughly with the carbide scraper to remove any remaining loose paint.
- 3). Sand the scraped wood to remove all weathering and feather painted into unpainted areas.
- 4). Scrape away old caulk with the putty knife. Work both sides of the crack until you loosen all the material and reach solid wood.
- 5). Sand the bare wood around the crack.
- 6). Prime the wood and sand the prime into the crack to seal it.
- 7). Lay on a bead of caulk to any cracks. Smooth the caulk out with your finger.
