How to Grow an African daisy
- 1). Grow African daisy plants in full sun and well-drained soil. Enrich the soil by adding 3 to 4 inches of compost into the top 6 inches.
- 2). Sow African daisy seeds 1/16 inch deep every three inches when the soil warms up to at least 60 degrees Fahrenheit. Keep the soil moist and expect the seedlings in a week or more. Thin the daisy seedlings to one every six inches when they reach 3 inches tall.
- 3). Plant African daisy transplants at the same depth they were in the containers and soak them well to settle the plants. Space the plant six inches apart and cover the area around the daisy plants with a 3-inch layer of mulch.
- 4). Supply water at a rate of about 1 inch per week as long as the African daisies are growing. Water less during rain and stop watering in the fall.
- 5). Trim off any spent blooms on the African daisy to promote a longer bloom period.
