    • 1). Pour 1/2 cup of hot sauce into a spray bottle along with 1 tbsp. of liquid dish soap and 2 cups of warm water. Shake to combine ingredients. The hot sauce works as a natural repellent because of its strong odor, while the liquid dish soap creates a slightly sticky texture that gives adhesive quality to the spray. This helps the spray stick to plants and soil for extended periods.

    • 2). Spray the solution directly on the plant bulbs and the surrounding soil. Cover the crocus bulbs with soil as you normally would, then coat the topsoil of the garden with the homemade spray.

    • 3). Repeat every one to two weeks or as needed when you see squirrels near the garden.

    • 4). Spray the stems and leaves of the crocus as it grows to continue to repel squirrels.
