How to Rig a Bass Frog Lure

    • 1). Choose a heavy-action rod and reel. Spool the reel with monofilament or braided line that is at least 20-lb. test.

    • 2). Attach the line directly to the lure, if it comes rigged with one. Tie a Palomar knot (see Resources) to attach the line to the hook eye at the front of the lure.

    • 3). Tie a No. 3/0 to No. 5/0 hook to the end of the fishing line. This is necessary if the artificial frog you are using does not come with a hook.

    • 4). Rig the frog Texas style. Push the hook 1/4 inch into the lure, and then press the hook point so it comes out the bottom of the lure. Thread the lure up the shank of the hook, so the head is just below the eye of the hook. Turn the hook 180 degrees, so the point faces the lure. Insert the hook point into the bottom of the lure, and push it upward until it is just below the surface on top of the water. Push the head of the lure so it is flush with the eye of the hook.
