How to Float Tube Fish
- 1). Get as close to the spot you're going to fish in as you can. Once you get into the water, it will be easier if you are closer to the fishing location than if you are not. The only way to get around in a Float Tube is by using your fins and kicking, so to get anywhere will take effort. Why not start close and enjoy your relaxing day?
- 2). Check your Float Tube for proper inflation. Make sure you have all of your gear. The Float Tube comes with handy accessory compartments to store lures, and rod holes to stick your rods in. Make sure you have everything you need before you start off.
- 3). Put your waders, life vest and flippers on and get in the Float Tube. This is easiest to do on dry, level land. After you have the Float Tube on, support it at your waist and step into the water. It may be less difficult to walk backwards into the water---walking forward may kick up gravel in front of you with your flippers, or make you more susceptible to tripping. Therefore, if you would like, you can also place the Tube in knee deep water to get in it. Make sure to secure the crotch strap either way.
- 4). Paddle your way out to your favorite fishing location. This will likely take a little time. Use the time to customize or go over your lures and rod. You can also troll for fish as you skim along the water. Who knows, you might be lucky and snag something.
- 5). Settle yourself in at your favorite fishing hole. To fish in a Float Tube is very much like fly-fishing in waist-deep water. An overhand, or side-arm cast is best. Just make sure not to catch your Float Tube with the hook. Also, like fly-fishing, don't disrupt the water behind you by letting the line hit the surface on the backhand.
- 6). Place the fish you catch in one of the Float Tube's accessory pouches. When you are ready to go home, repack all of your gear and head back.
