How to Fish With Breakaway Bands
- 1). Slide the breakaway band through the eye of the hook.
- 2). Choose the lure you would like to fish with and slip the breakaway band through the split ring on the lure.
- 3). Attach the free end of the breakaway band so that it is clipped in the hook. The breakaway band should now have your lure attached and be closed at the other end.
- 4). Use a pair of needle-nosed pliers to fully close the hook. This step is optional but will give you added protection.
- 5). Cast your lure into the water and fish as you normally would. If your lure becomes snagged on the bottom or on some debris, tighten your drag and pull away. The band connecting your hook to your lure will break off, leaving the hook behind but still keeping your lure intact.
