Why You Should Install a Pool Fence

If you are considering the purchase of a new backyard swimming pool, you may also want to add some additional funds for a pool fence.
Now, you may be wondering, why in the world would I want to build a fence? Besides the cost, it can also look tacky.
This article is going to provide two reasons why you need to install a fence around your pool.
The first and most important reason to build a fence around your pool is safety.
A fence around your pool can help keep young children out when they are unsupervised.
The very sad fact is that drowning is the second leading cause of death for children under fourteen.
To be more specific, in 2001, 859 children died from unintentional drowning.
Now, you may be thinking, I don't have any children.
You may not, but more than likely, there are some neighborhood kids who would like to jump in your pool.
If one of these children, who do not have your permission, accidentally drowns in your pool, you can be held liable.
While this may not seem fair, the fact is that you should take every measure that you can to ensure our children's (whether yours or not) safety.
The second reason that you should install a pool fence is because in many states and localities, it is required by either a state law or local government ordnance.
The reason many municipalities require pool fences is to keep people from accidentally drowning.
Going back to our discussion above, you can be held liable for someone drowning if you are found negligent.
In many cases, failing to install a swimming pool fence is considered negligent.
