Instructions for How to Start Ti Plants
- 1). Lay a paper coffee filter on the bottom of a gallon-sized pot. This keeps the substrate from seeping through the pot's drainage holes. If the pot is wider than the filters that you have on hand, use two or more filters as needed to cover the bottom.
- 2). Fill the pot with a potting mixture made up of equal parts peat moss and sand.
- 3). Bury the ti plant cutting an inch below the potting soil surface. Orient the cutting so that it's horizontal, running parallel with the surface of the soil.
- 4). Place the pot in an area with an ambient room temperature of 60 to 85 degrees Fahrenheit. These temperatures create the optimal growing environment for the ti plant.
- 5). Water the pot daily using enough moisture to keep the top 3 to 4 inches of potting soil consistently moist. After one to two weeks, green buds will emerge from the buried ti cutting and break the soil surface.
