- 1). Click the "Apple" logo from the Finder menu on your MacBook.
- 2). Click "System Preferences".
- 3). Click "Time Machine".
- 4). Click "Select Disk". A dialog box opens, with a list of available drives. Click the external drive you want Time Machine to change to for doing automatic backups. Click "Use for Backup".
- 5). Click the red circle at the upper left corner of the "Time Machine" system preferences panel to close it.
