    • 1). Connect one of the coaxial or RG6 cables into the second outlet on the satellite dish installed on the outside of your home. Avoid moving the satellite dish or you will need to reposition it to receive your signal.

    • 2). Expand the hole through which the original cable enters your home so you can insert the new cable.

    • 3). Insert the cable and caulk the hole to prevent unwanted pests from entering your home, as well as for weatherproofing.

    • 4). Run the cable through the basement or attic to the location of the receiver you wish to connect.

    • 5). Drill a hole in the wall in the location of your new receiver and guide the cable through the hole.

    • 6). Connect the end of the cable to the input at the back of your satellite receiver.

    • 7). Insert the appropriate connector cable for your television into the receiver output. Depending on the age of your television, you may use a HDMI connector, component connector or S-video connector. Connect this to the proper input on the back of your television.

    • 8). Insert the DirecTV access card into its slot on the receiver. This card grants you access to the satellite signal.

    • 9). Contact DirecTV customer service to add the second receiver to your account. The customer service representative will talk you through the set-up process and activate your access card.
