Definition:

Air pump is a device that delivers air under low pressure to aquarium equipment connected to it by means of flexible tubing. Older models utilize a reciprocating piston, while most modern versions use a bellows operated by an electric vibrator to achieve pressurization. Air pumps are used to drive bubblers, filters, and decorative pieces in the aquarium.
