    • 1). Soak hibiscus seeds for one hour in very warm water just prior to sowing.

    • 2). Fill 2-inch starter pots with good quality indoor potting soil.

    • 3). Place 3 to 4 seeds on top of the soil in each pot. Sprinkle a small amount of soil on top of the seeds and gently firm the top of the soil with the palm of your hand.

    • 4). Set the 2-inch starter pots in a larger, shallow, watertight pan. Add water to a depth that is halfway up the sides of the 2-inch pots. Let the pots sit in the pan until the surface of the soil looks moist.

    • 5). Remove the starter pots from the larger pan and allow excess water to drain. Return the pots to the pan and water from the bottom as needed to keep the soil evenly moist.

    • 6). Keep starter pots in a warm spot, such as the top of the refrigerator, until the seedlings emerge in 7 to 14 days.

    • 7). Install grow lights so they sit approximately 3 to 4 inches above the top of the seedlings.

    • 8). Thin to the strongest seedling in each pot when they are 3 to 4 inches high.

    • 9). Plant outdoors after all danger of frost has passed.
