    • 1). Remove the bolts that are used to secure the diving board to the stand with the socket wrench. Take off the diving board and move it to your work area.

    • 2). Attach a 400-grit sanding disc to a handheld sander. Plug the power cord into an electrical outlet or use an extension cord.

    • 3). Begin sanding the diving board. Start at one end and move along the length of the board until you reach the other end. Wipe the sanding dust off of the board with a damp cloth.

    • 4). Examine the diving board to make sure that the coating has been removed. If the diving board requires additional sanding, use an 800-grit sanding disc with the handheld sander.

    • 5). Apply strips of masking tape to the edges of the diving board.

    • 6). Mix the new coating or textured paint by following the instructions for the product. Pour the product in a paint tray.

    • 7). Apply the product to the roller and begin rolling it on the diving board. Allow the product to cure for at least 24 hours before reinstalling the diving board.
