How to Catch Kingfish on the Beach
- 1). Slide a 1-ounce or smaller sliding egg weight onto the end of your main braid or monofilament fishing line.
- 2). Slide an orange, red or green bead onto the main line below the weight. Attach a barrel swivel to the main line with a uni knot. Use the bead on the line to protect the knot from the sliding egg weight.
- 3). Cut an 18- to 36-inch length of fluorocarbon fishing line from a filler spool to use as a leader. Choose a fluorocarbon leader with a test strength that is rated at least 10 pounds. Attach the leader to the barrel swivel with a uni knot.
- 4). Tie a size 6 or 8 circle hook to the free end of the leader with a uni knot.
- 5). Cut strips of squid and put them on the circle hook. Use dime-size or smaller pieces of squid to bait the circle hook.
