How to Make a Single Knit Blanket on a Loom
- 1). Wrap the yarn around the starter peg on the edge of the loom, leaving a loose tail. Thread the yarn between the first and last pegs, and make e-loops around each peg in succession all the way around the loom. To make an e-loop, bring the yarn behind the peg and wrap it around once. It should make the shape of a cursive letter "e," hence the name. As you thread the loom, keep the thread only moderately taut.
- 2). Wrap the thread twice around the last peg, and make e-loops on each peg back around the loom to the first peg. Wrap the thread end once or twice around the holder peg at the beginning to keep your work in place.
- 3). Pick up the bottom loop on the first peg with the knitting tool. Slip the loop over the second loop and over the top of the peg. Do this for each peg all the way around the loom. Make a row of e-loops starting from the first peg and ending with the last peg. Hitch the loose end to the holder peg. Use the knitting tool to pick up the bottom stitch, and pull it over the one you just made on top.
- 4). Continue to make rows of e-loops till the desired size is reached. Crochet the last row of loops off the loom. Starting from the last peg, crochet two loops together, then chain one. Pick up the next loop, crochet the two loops together, chain one and so on around the rim of the loom. Snip the thread, and pull the loose end through the last loop.
- 5). Make three panels to create a blanket 60 inches wide. The 11.5-inch round loom will make a swatch 30 inches wide. Crochet the edges of the three panels together. Single-stitch around the outside edge of the blanket twice to create a selvage edge.
