How to Make a Candy Mural Out of Gumballs
- 1). Get a picture frame for your mural and lay it on a flat surface. It should be a broad, sturdy frame with a solid backing.
- 2). Print out or draw a picture the size of your mural. You can either use a color printout or a line drawing with color zones drawn in like a child's painting book. For example, it might say "brown" on the pupils or "blue" on the pants. If you are making a large mural, print out the image on 8.5" x ll" or similar sized pages rather than having one big poster made.
- 3). Put the pages down on the backing so that they form a picture. You can hold them down with a bit of tape if you are making the mural somewhere where the wind might blow them around.
- 4). Make the image on one of the corner papers out of gum balls. If there are colors that don't correspond to any of your gum balls, use different gumballs side by side to make that color. For example, if you need a dark red, you could alternate between black and red gum balls.
- 5). Carefully pull the paper out from under the gumballs without disturbing them. Glue the gum balls to the backing and the frame with hot glue or epoxy. Fill in the space between the gumballs with glue as well to get a secure fit.
- 6). Keep picking up pages and gluing the gum balls on until you have finished the mural. A good system is to work in rows, doing all the pages at the bottom one at a time, then the next row up, and so on.
