- 1). Spread the white sheet out on a work bench. Pour the reel solvent into the pan and set next to the sheet.
- 2). Unscrew the handle and the handle thumb grip, and place them into the solvent. Unscrew the reel ends and expose the spool. Unscrew the bushings and cast bail mechanism and place them into the solvent. Let the parts soak in the solvent for five minutes, remove, dry with a rag, and set them out on the white sheet in the order they came off the reel.
- 3). Remove the set of washers and gears off the handle spool turning. Soak them for five minutes in the solvent, remove, dry and place on the white sheet.
- 4). Reassemble the parts in the order they came off the reel, making sure to add a dab of dry lube to each moving part as it is reassembled.
- 5). Wipe down the spool with the lube and place the spool-reel ends back onto the reel. Screw the handle and thumb grip back to the reel. The Saltiga is now overhauled and ready for use.
